by Richard Carradine
£9.99, Silver Moon
‘WARNING!’ promises the tantalising print on the
front cover, ‘CONTAINS EXPLICIT ILLUSTRATIONS!’
And indeed, this book does contain some wonderfully graphic BDSM artwork. Silver Moon’s
new edition of Tormented Passage by Richard Carradine is filled with black and white images by the mysterious illustrator, ‘Loki’. Each picture is wonderfully detailed, almost photo-realistic, and could easily resemble stills from Kink.com videos, were it not for their futuristic backdrops. As a science-fiction novel, Tormented Passage triumphs. It follows the journey of a young sex slave through a dystopic universe where gender equality has gone much the way of planet Gor (or, at best Sky Sports). Our heroine goes through a process of genetic modification demanded by her new owner. Tits grow, throat accommodates deeper blowjobs and she now likes having all sorts of things stuck up her bottom. Having been sold into submission for the duration of a long journey through space, her ultimate mission is to find herself a husband and raise his children. The future, it seems, is like
the 1950s but with better technology. The descriptions are certainly more aesthetic than emotional. Despite the many sexual experiences
being narrated by the character herself, she
seems to meander off from the specifics of sexual
pleasure, shame, excitement or attraction to focus
on how big her norks are and how slim her waist is. At times, it’s like watching porn more than reading erotica. For this reason, I suspect it may appeal to men more than women, but it’s entertaining nonetheless. If you like your ladies pneumatic, your gentlemen heroic and your spaceships fast, then Tormented Passage is the book for you.
